Keypad with Hotkeys
keypad view
The keypad is little curvy according to the trend with somewhat style. The keyboard is semi-ergonomic style so the keys are smaller as compared to big keypads. According to the keypad size these don't look odd. At the top left of the notebook you’ll find the power button in addition to three LEDs. The LEDs shows hard disk activity and whether you’ve activated Caps lock and num lock or not. At the top right of the notebook you’ll find four programmable hotkeys. They allow you to easily open your favourite email program and preferred internet browser while being customizable to your liking.
The various ports look around the different sides
When you come to the left side you’ll find one USB 2.0 port as well as one FireWire port. There’s also been room for the modem and Ethernet ports in addition to a big fan and an extern monitor port plus a single PCMCIA port. On the right side there’re three USB 2.0 ports and the DVD drive.
The DVD drive have some special feature. Despite of the regular DVD drive ving a regular DVD drive it has a slip-in drive instead. This way you don’t have to wait for the physical drive to pop out when you can easily insert the disk right away. It does seem a bit noisy at times and sometimes damage the disks.
The front of the Acer Ferrari 4000 is the most interesting as it contains a pair of speakers with one in each side as well as a built-in 5-in-1 card reader to the left. There’s also a built-in microphone plus an infrared port. You’ll also find two status LEDs showing if power is on and the battery status. Rounding thins off there’s a Line-In and a Line-Out port in addition to Bluetooth and wireless LAN indicators.

Noise Level
The Acer Ferrari 4000 is quite noisy. This is quite unfortunate though understandable since it’s built around a loud and proud Formula One team. If playing an intense computer game or wearing headphones you might not notice. This will definitely is not liked by the user who prefer low-noise computing. The fan is continuosly spinning even when there is no call for it.
Performance and Battery backup
For office applications performance is better. The inclusion of 7200 RPM hard disk produces good results.
Its battery life is not so good so the mobile users will not be satisfied with the battery backup.
Its fan generates so much noise not lied by much of the users. Instead it’s an irritating fan that goes on and on without any real purpose for being that noisy. It shows good results while playing games but not so good during office applications.
The following results cameout afer comparing its battery life with other notebooks.More time means more battery backup.
MobileMark 2005 productivity-----------Battery time in minutes
Asus W3V-------------------------------253
ABook 2700 TX-----------------------186
ABook 3600 TXi---------------------183
LG LW60 Express------------------154
Acer Ferrari 4000-----------------137
Zepto Znote 2314W-------------136
From the above performance chart we can conclude that the battery backup of Acer Ferrari 4000 is less as compared to most of the notebooks.
